This February 2025, Interlude's founder (Kevin) and I had the honour of attending New York Fashion Week as invited guests and media observers for Runway 7, hosted at Sony Hall in Manhattan. Across four vibrant days, we immersed ourselves in the cultural heartbeat of fashion, witnessing over 90+ designers show off their latest creations. What made it even more special-- this marked Kev and I's first time meeting in person as collaborators and creative partners, setting a major first tone for Interlude's next chapter and journey ahead!

As two creative founders passionate about design and community, we took this opportunity to experience the city’s energy firsthand, capturing moments for personal archives and deep reflection.

Even my luggage getting left behind in Vancouver couldn’t throw us off course. One quick stop at Century 21 turned into an impromptu styling moment, and I was ready to see my first runway.

While waiting in line to get our pass, we found ourselves inspired not only by the city movement that surrounded us... but by the sidewalk fashion shows and spontaneous photo sessions that were happening all around us. At times, fellow creatives and photographers called us to be in their frames (see below)... an incredibly organic reflection of Interlude’s values: authenticity, community, collaboration, and alignment.

Inside Sony Hall, the atmosphere was wild. Rows of photographers documented the shows with lenses of all sizes, while spotlights lit up bold silhouettes from designers like Naeem Khan, Label Nina, Megan Alexander, and EFÉLH. We admired the artistry and drew insights that would later inform our own visual storytelling, branding, and creative direction.

Outside the fashion world, New York itself offered endless stimulation. We spent afternoons wandering SoHo, discovering endless inspo in dreamy art shops like Philip Williams Poster Museum. At the The Metropolitan Museum of Art (the MET), we studied classical works like the Flight into Egypt, and later while visiting The Whitney Museum with Kev’s friend Morgan (an amazingly gifted illustrator), we found ourselves in the presence of Basquiat’s work, one of my personal favourites.

Our days were filled with bagels, lattes, and long conversations about art. From creative thinking in collaborative spaces overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge to night-time scheming with Larry June’s "Life is Beautiful" on repeat, NYFW was a super sacred start to Interlude’s path ahead.

What this experience affirmed for me is that Interlude isn’t just a brand, it’s a community, a movement, and a space for artists to connect with their highest selves. And while I didn’t travel to NYFW to 'work,' I left with endless gratitude for the opportunity of presence, and a deep inspiration for what's next for the Collective.

With love,
